Gain access to a Global audience of overseas Importers, benefit from secure transactions with Escrow.com, and enjoy skillful Trade Facilitation services to support your international growth.

Our vetting process ensures that only bona fide and reliable Australian Exporters join our exclusive invitation only cross border marketplace. We work with Infotrack to access ASIC to verify the authenticity and credit risk ratings of businesses which is undertaken annually to ensure up to date compliance, confidence and governance for all parties involved.

We take trust in business extremely seriously. In fact we see this as the most basic fundamental characteristic of all successful long term business relationships. As such, all Exporters in the IMPEX B2B marketplace are registered by invitation only as being reputable Australian food companies and pre-vetted and rated by our reputable credit rating provider Infotrack and with source company document verification from ASIC. This due diligence process ensures that you are dealing with legitimate and reliable Australian businesses and be confident that when you accept an Offer to Sell from an Exporter, you can deposit your funds in escrow with peace of mind.

All Australian Exporters are validated and Credit Risk Rated every 12 months when they renew their registration. This Due Diligence undertaken by our IMPEX Lawyers alliance partners so overseas Importers can form objective commercial assessments of whether they wish to transact with the Exporter and place their purchase funds with our trusted third party payment gateway Escrow.com.

This allows Importers to make informed and streamlined buying decisions through independent Risk Score assessments before they do business.

Yes, we charge both the Importer & Exporter a competitive marketplace fee of 5% each calculated on the Incoterms FOB commercial invoice value of transaction through IMPEX B2B.

This 10% gross marketplace fee includes the Escrow fee deducted from both the Importer (5%) and Exporter (5%) enables us to provide exceptional trade matching services and brokerage support for both parties in the transaction and keep the costs and risks of International Trade as equally balanced, streamlined and competitive as possible.

Here is an example of a transaction for an Importer in Hong Kong buying 2000 units of Australian Manuka Honey for $A 5.00 per unit from an Exporter Incoterms FOB with a 3 day inspection period after receival.

The transaction purchase price within the IMPEX B2B marketplace was $A 10,000 and the quoted shipping cost from our validated Freight Forwarder ICAL to get the consignment from FOB Australia shipped, delivered and insured to the Main Port Incoterms Hong Kong CIF is $500:

IMPEX B2B offers secure transaction processing through Escrow.com and annual registration and Offer listing fees through Stripe to ensure smooth and risk-free transactions through the world’s safest payment providers.

AUD Payment options for Importers

  • Wire transfer
  • Credit Card – MasterCard, Visa
  • PayPal

Wire transfers for Importers will be charged an additional $25.00 to cover any intermediary bank fees. This will be added to the escrow fee, regardless of who is paying the fee, when the Importer selects to pay by international wire transfer.

Please note that the payment methods of Credit Card and PayPal will incur a Payment Processing Fee and are subject to additional restrictions.

Transactions on IMPEX B2B are safely secured through our independent trusted 3rd party payment gateway  Escrow.com.

When an Importer places an order against an Exporters Offer to Sell and deposits funds including transaction fees and disbursements, their money is held in escrow until the Importer confirms receipt and integrity of the goods within the Inspection period.

This guarantees safe and transparent transactions for both parties involved.

The powerful features of our escrow function allows milestone drawdowns and negotiation between Importers and Exporters to harmonise the balance of competing interests and risks between the parties all facilitated through the IMPEX B2B marketplace.

Disbursement options and estimated processing times:

International wire transfer (Non-US / international bank accounts): 3-5 business days.

While IMPEX B2B does not directly offer freight, customs and logistics services, our platform has an inbuilt Service Exchange where completed Offers get posted and our pre vetted freight, logistics and customs brokers and other export professionals can bid for the delivery of their services to those completed Offer transactions. It’s up to Importers whether they want to use the services of these Freight & Customs service providers to take the listed Offer to Sell Incoterms FOB price paid to their CIF Main Port via ship or air.

Importantly, Importer funds held in escrow are not released to the Exporter or IMPEX B2B marketplace until they have arranged their transport and receive goods for inspection and then accepted as completed.

Our Service Exchange also allows Importers and Exporters to post all of their auxiliary requirements for their IMPEX B2B transactions such as lawyers for trademark registration, Web & SEO, writing and translation, QA/QC inspection, label, printing and packaging or even NPD recipe innovation.

Delivery times vary based on the Importer & Exporter location, lead time and the air or sea shipping method selected and the ability of the freight, customs and logistics providers being able to steer the goods from port of origin to Buyer nominated port destination.

The Inspection Period is the specified length of time agreed upon by both parties in which the Importer may examine the merchandise after receipt. The Importer has the option to “Accept” or “Reject” the goods within this period. The Inspection Period does not include transit time for shipping.

How long is the Inspection Period?

Inspection Periods are 1 – 7 calendar days and must be agreed upon by all parties at the initiation of the transaction. Importers and Exporters should ascertain the Inspection Period provides adequate time for any authentication and/or appraisal process required to complete the transaction.

Start of Inspection Period

The Inspection Period begins when the Importer marks the merchandise as “Received” or when Escrow.com verifies or receives confirmation that the merchandise has been delivered.

End of Inspection Period

The Inspection Period ends when the Importer either Accepts the merchandise, Rejects the merchandise, or the Inspection Period expires:

  1. If the Importer notes in Escrow.com that they accept the merchandise prior to the end of the Inspection Period, this action will end the Inspection Period, and Escrow.com will release the funds to the Exporter.
  2. If the Importer rejects the merchandise, they must do so prior to the conclusion of the Inspection Period. Once the Importer rejects the merchandise, the Inspection Period will end.
  3. If the Importer does not take any action within the Inspection Period, at the end of the agreed-upon Inspection Period, Escrow.com will release the funds to the Exporter.

24 Hour Notice

In the event the transaction closes without involvement from the Importer, a 24-hour notice will be sent to the Importer to give them an additional 24 hours to notify Escrow.com of any issues with the products. If Escrow.com do not hear from the Importer within 24 hours of the notice, Escrow.com will then release the funds to the Exporter at the end of the 24-hour period.

During the agreement of terms, the Buyer and Seller agree as to who will pay for shipping. If the Seller is paying the shipping, the cost does not need to be added to the transaction.

If the Buyer is paying the shipping cost, the Seller can add the cost to the transaction which is applied within the IMPEX B2B marketplace. Escrow.com will collect the shipping cost along with the purchase price and any portion of the escrow fees due from the Buyer. The Seller will initially pay the shipping company directly, at the time of shipment; the Seller will be reimbursed the shipping cost at the close of the transaction. In this case, the Buyer is responsible for the shipping costs even if they reject the merchandise.

If both parties are in agreement, the Importer can pay their own shipping company directly or one preapproved within the IMPEX B2B Service Exchange; no shipping cost needs to be added to the transaction as it’s a separate disbursement.

Please note, in the event the merchandise is received by the Importer and rejected, the Importer is always responsible to ship the merchandise back to the Exporter for ambient products at the Buyer’s cost or for Chilled & Frozen products, separate contractual obligations and liabilities activate through the Escrw.com Dispute Resolution process including Insurance provisions.

In the event an Importer receives damaged merchandise, the receiver (Importer or Exporter) should first log onto Escrow.com and mark the merchandise as “received” and then “reject.” Next, the receiver must immediately report the damage to the shipping company and to the sender. This is because shipping companies have a time restriction within which such a claim can be filed for compensation. The two parties must promptly establish the proper procedure for filing a claim and submit all available proof. If the merchandise was insured, and a claim filed within the required time frame, the compensation may include the shipping cost. Escrow.com will continue to protect the funds in escrow while this is resolved. Please be aware that the receiver of damaged merchandise should not re-ship the goods as this will, in most cases, void the ability to file a shipping claim.

IMPEX B2B has preapproved and validated preferred shippers that we work with on a consistent basis. However, in reality you can use any shipping company you wish, as long as the shipping company provides online tracking to the other party’s address provided by Escrow.com.

If you do use a shipping company not pre-approved by IMPEX B2B, please contact us or Escrow.com Customer Support with the shipping company’s contact information so we can confirm the shipment was delivered.

Please note, failure to use a trackable method of online shipping may delay release of funds at the close of the transaction.

The party shipping the item can only ship to the nominated delivery address provided in the IMPEX B2B marketplace.

Yes, all shipments must be insured for the consignment full value. Failure to insure the item for its full value means assumption of liability in the event the merchandise is damaged or lost.

Your nominated freight and logistics provider will include insurance in their quotation so you’re covered.

No, we have strict contractual terms and conditions which our invitation only Importers & Exporters all sign up to when they first register and are bound by through the annual registration and credit check reporting process.

These binding conditions are to ensure non-circumvention of the IMPEX B2B platform in order to provide the ultimate protective measures possible for undertaking successful ongoing international trade whilst protecting the intellectual property of the platform, its stakeholders and valued Import/Export customers.

Any Importers or Exporters attempting to bypass these strict non-circumvention provisions will be in breach of their contractual agreement with the IMPEX B2B marketplace and will be liable for all future lost commissions, penalties, costs and charges applicable for the recovery and rightful restoration of monetary compensation owed to IMPEX B2B.

It is a contractual condition of our terms that all transactions undertaken through the IMPEX B2B marketplace are audited annually with Directors and your nominated accountants required to authenticate and sign off on your annual transactions for reporting, governance and KYC/AML compliance purposes.

For the avoidance of doubt, if you list an Offer to Buy or Sell through the IMPEX B2B marketplace and we successfully trade match that transaction with a counterparty, you are bound and liable to pay our transaction fees irrespective of whether you attempt to circumvent the marketplace and deal offline directly with that counterparty for future transactions.

Importers & Exporters may not offer or accept payments using any method other than placing an order through IMPEX B2B.

Contacting another member to discuss moving a purchase off the IMPEX B2B platform exposes both the Importer and Exporter to the risk of fraud. It also means both Importer and Exporter are not covered by our protection programs.
